SIRENA STATION EXPLORATION HIKE

From Puerto Jimenez by boat.

Begin your adventure by boarding a boat at the public dock in Puerto Jiménez at 5:30 am, accompanied by our tour guide. During the trip, you can enjoy the sunrise and, with any luck, spot dolphins. After approximately an hour and a half of travel, we will arrive at Sirena beach. Note that the beach does not have a dock, so you will have to get your feet wet when disembarking.

Once on land, you will need to register with the park rangers on the coast. After completing this process, our exploration will begin. Our guide, equipped with a telescope, will take you along trails under the shade of trees in an exciting search for the wildlife hidden among the branches and roots. Our first goal will be to reach the Sirena station for a brief rest.

The adventure continues with the exploration of the various trails surrounding the Sirena station. On this hike, we will look for a variety of mammals such as anteaters, coatis, monkeys, sloths, agoutis, felines, peccaries, white-lipped peccaries, mountain goats, and of course, tapirs. Additionally, we will explore to find amphibians and reptiles, including snakes and iguanas, as well as a great diversity of birds that inhabit this national park.

We will return to the station for lunch at 11:00 am. After lunch, we will embark on the last trail of the day, heading back to the coast. We will take the boat back at 1:00 pm, arriving in Puerto Jiménez around 2:30 pm.
