LOS PATOS - SIRENA - LA LEONA

AVAILABLE ONLY IN DRY SEASON FROM JANUARY TO MAY

Welcome to Los Patos, the second door of Corcovado Park, this is the longest and hardest hike, for those who want a real challenge!

Our departure will be from Puerto Jiménez by 4x4 taxi, at 5:30 am, the route will take about an hour and a half, along the way we will cross rivers, surrounded by vegetation, until we get to the park ranger station in Los Patos, and after do the check in, the adventure will begins!

On the first day our tour guide will take you to a very dense forest, where the path sometimes is wide enough to walk, after going up and down on trails and hills, crossing rivers and streams, in turn we will go looking among the exuberant flora of the place, species such as peccaries, , agoutis, deers, tajacu pecaries, snakes, birds and insects, we will make some stops along the way to rest, eat some sandwiches and take photos, the walk will be around 10 hours, to finally arrive at the Sirena Biological Station, do the check in, in the lodging, and after the dinner go to sleep surrounded by the darkness in the heart of the forest.

On the second day, we will wake up very early to start the walk back along the path that goes to La Leona, which, unlike Los Patos, for your comfort, this path is flatter in relief, we will walk through the forest, bordering the coast, in search of more species of wildlife, after around 8 hours we finally reach Carate, to take the transport back to Puerto Jiménez in the afternoon.

IN CASE OF 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS:

The second day we will get up very early, before sunrise to make the first excursion along the Sirena trail to look for the tapir, and some other species of fauna that we can find while the darkness It still covers the forest, and then return to the refuge at breakfast time, we will try to take advantage of the day as much as possible, to walk along the trails that surround the station, looking for even more fauna, and vegetation, at noon we will have lunch in the forest or In the refuge, depending on the weather we will be able to take a bath in the waters of the Claro River, finally we will return to the station after sunset to have dinner and sleep the second night, the next day we will walk along the path to La Leona, taking the transport in Carate , to reach Puerto Jiménez in the afternoon.
