This is a guided tour through the Preciosa Platanares Wildlife Refuge, getting to know this amazing ecosystem by paddling down the Platanares River, surrounded by the beautiful green mangrove forest that grows in areas near river mouths.

Departure will be from Playa Agujitas in Drake Bay at 7:30 am, where we will board the boat with our tour guide towards Caño Island. During the trip, it is possible to find dolphins, and in the season from August to December, it is possible to find the giant humpback whales.

Bioluminescence Kayak (Sunrise or Sunset)

Our tour will start on the coast, where after a brief explanation and instructions from our tour guide, we will board our kayaks to navigate the calm waters of the gulf, enjoying a beautiful sunset. With luck, we will find dolphins and we will have a rest accompanied by tropical fruits on a nearby coast while we wait for nightfall, to be able to observe this unique spectacle shining and illuminating the dark waters of the Golfo Dulce.

This kayak tour is according to the high tide. It cannot be done on a full moon. For safety, only double kayaks are included. No previous experience required.

Caño Island Diving

We leave from Drake Bay by boat at 7:00 am. After an hour, we arrive at Caño Island, one of the best diving sites in Costa Rica. Once at the site, after checking in, we will do two dives in different marine areas around the Island (there are 6 marked points for diving) due to the corals and the diversity of marine life attracted to the area.

Departure: 7:30 am / Return: 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.

Sunset Dolphins Kayak

Enjoy a beautiful sunset in the Golfo Dulce, combined with the search for dolphins. We will start on the coast of our local beach, checking our equipment. After putting on our life jackets and a brief explanation of the tour by our guide, we will start paddling our kayak, feeling the sea breeze, entering the calm waters of the Golfo Dulce, where we will watch the sunset far from the coast, while we look for dolphins, we will also observe coastal birds and learn a little more about this marine ecosystem.
